Summer Discovery being over is very bittersweet. This summer was an amazing mix of fun, challenges, crafts, and wildlife sightings. The kids seemed to have an amazing time and we got some great feedback from parents about what their children loved about camp, what activities they want more of, and which paints are, in fact, non-washable.
I learned a great deal about running a camp this summer. From getting to know the inherent complications of the seemingly simple registration process ("Wait, all fifteen of Erin's best friends have to be in her group but only if Joe's cousin's next-door-neighbor can't come on Wednesdays?") to answering dozens of emails and phone calls ("No, we can't move fishing indoors if it rains"), I got my fair share of talking with parents, entertaining kids during down time, and driving the Gator back and forth with camp supplies.
As sad as I am to see the kids go, it will be nice to have a change of pace and work on some of the other projects I have lined up. The next big project we're starting to work on is the redesigned and updated website. Should be lots of fun!
